The one-room thatched roof cottage, Maria’s home in Cherkassy where she lived with her mother and father, Anastasia and Trofin, and her five brothers and four sisters. It was this home to which Maria returned in 1973, after making first contact with her family since her departure to the prison camp in the Spring of 1942.

Jack, Vera and Maria
