On a visit to The Gap, Iwan (John) and Maria (now Mrs Sanin) circa 1996, stand in front of the bottle tree they planted in 1954, when farming their 8 acre property in Kaloma Road. Bottle-tree Place now indicates the site.

Jack, Vera and Maria
From the end of World War II in 1945, many displaced persons (declared stateless) spent long periods in Camps. On the 5th August 1948, men departed from Hanover to board ship at Vollen Bosfal, leaving wives and children to follow. At that time Australia was not accepting families with more than one child. Jack, Vera and Maria – centre front, say a sad farewell.
